If you’ve tried yoga or Pilates, and said “it’s great, but it’s not a real workout,” then it’s time for you to try HOT yoga.
With hot yoga, the room temperature is about 105 with optimal humidity at 60%. The combination is of heat and humidity promotes ultimate flexibility by allowing for a deeper, safer, gentler stretching of muscles than room temperature. The heat thins the blood, increasing the heart rate for a true cardiovascular workout. But be warned – this is hard stuff! For your first class, try to find a 45 or 60 minute session, and don’t be shy to go into “child’s pose” or another relaxed position if you get light headed.
In addition to a great workout, hot yoga is a great addition to your routine if you’re big on weight training and/or running like me. Stretching your tight body in new ways will help it to become more flexible, bringing greater range of motion to muscles and joints. Yoga helps shape long, lean muscles.
And what’s more, any form of yoga can reduce stress and has been noted to improve of many medical conditions, detoxes the body and activates your immune system detoxes the body for prevention of future medical issues.
All in all, hot yoga is a fantastic addition to your workout regimen.
